Depois de ser adiada de janeiro para abril por causa da pandemia, a 64ª edição do Grammy Awards aconteceu neste domingo, 3 de abril, em Las Vegas. No prêmio mais cobiçado, Jon Batiste levou a categoria Álbum do Ano com “We Are”. O grupo Silk Sonic saiu com quatro prêmios e Olivia Rodrigo com três, sendo os destaques da noite.
O evento teve uma prévia de abertura transmitida no YouTube para que fosse possível distribuir alguns dos prêmios, devido à grande quantidade de categorias. Assim, a cerimônia oficial começou após diversos troféus já terem sido distribuídos.
A cerimônia teve apresentações de Batiste, Billie Eilish, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, H.E.R. e Lil Nas X, além de homenagens ao baterista Taylor Hawkins, dos Foo Fighters, que morreu no final de março, ao compositor Stephen Sondheim, que faleceu no final de 2021, além de surpreender os fãs brasileiros ao incluir a cantora sertaneja Marília Mendonça, que faleceu em acidente aéreo em novembro de 2021.
