A 68ª edição anual do Grammy Awards está sendo realizada neste domingo. Um total de 95 prêmios foram entregues em duas cerimônias, começando com a Cerimônia de Abertura, no Peacock Theater, em Los Angeles. A maioria dos troféus será entregue durante a Cerimônia de Abertura, que será transmitida ao vivo em live.grammy.com e no canal do YouTube da Recording Academy.
Os vencedores das demais categorias foram anunciados durante a transmissão ao vivo em horário nobre, na CBS e no Paramount+ Premium nos Estados Unidos e na TNT e HBO Max no Brasil. Trevor Noah apresenta a cerimônia pelo sexto (e último) ano consecutivo, diretamente da Crypto.com Arena, em Los Angeles.
Kendrick Lamar se tornou o rapper mais premiado da história ao levar a categoria Melhor Álbum de Rap. Olivia Dean foi eleita a Melhor Nova Artista, enquanto a música “WILDFLOWER” de Billie Eilish venceu como Música do Ano. Entre os prêmios principais da noite, “luther” de Kendrick Lamar com SZA venceu Gravação do Ano, enquanto “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” de Bad Bunny foi eleito o Álbum do Ano.
A cerimônia de abertura teve início com uma apresentação de Grace Potter, Israel Houghton, Lila Iké, Maggie Rose e Trombone Shorty. O apresentador Darren Criss subiu ao palco em seguida para dizer algumas palavras e entregar os primeiros prêmios da noite.
“É uma grande honra para mim apresentar a cerimônia de abertura do Grammy deste ano. Como artista, e tenho certeza de que muitos de vocês concordarão, este lugar significa muito para mim”, disse Criss. “Ele representa o talento, a arte, a paixão e a dedicação que acontecem nos bastidores, fora dos fones de ouvido. Entre os primeiros vencedores estavam Cynthia Erivo e Ariana Grande, na categoria de melhor performance pop em dupla/grupo por “Defying Gravity”; Doechii, na categoria de melhor videoclipe por “Anxiety”; “Golden”, de “Guerreiras do K-Pop”, na categoria de melhor canção escrita para mídia visual; e Lady Gaga, na categoria de melhor gravação dance pop por “Abracadabra”.
Leon Thomas posteriormente ganhou o prêmio de melhor álbum de R&B por “MUTT”; Kendrick Lamar e SZA, na categoria de melhor performance de rap melódico por “luther”; Shaboozey e Jelly Roll, na categoria de melhor performance country em dupla/grupo por “Amen”; e Joni Mitchell, na categoria de melhor álbum histórico por “Joni Mitchell Archives – Volume 4: The Asylum Years — 1976-1980”.
O filme “Pecadores” também ganhou os prêmios de melhor trilha sonora compilada para mídia visual e melhor trilha sonora incidental para mídia visual (incluindo cinema e televisão).
O icônico cineasta Steven Spielberg também consolidou seu status de vencedor do EGOT no domingo, após ganhar seu primeiro Grammy pela produção do documentário “Music By John Williams”, que venceu na categoria de melhor filme musical.
Outras apresentações na Cerimônia de Estreia incluíram Zara Larsson com seu sucesso “Midnight Sun”, Spiritbox com “Soft Spine”, Tasha Cobbs Leonard com “Church” e Criss e Helen J Shen com a canção “Never Fly Away”, do musical da Broadway vencedor do Tony, “Maybe Happy Ending”.
Este ano, a Recording Academy anunciou duas novas categorias: melhor álbum de música country tradicional e melhor capa de álbum. (A categoria anterior de melhor álbum de música country foi renomeada para melhor álbum de música country contemporânea, e as categorias de melhor projeto gráfico e melhor box ou edição especial limitada foram combinadas em uma única categoria, melhor projeto gráfico).
Rumo à cerimônia do Grammy, Kendrick Lamar lidera as indicações com nove nomeações, incluindo álbum, gravação e música do ano pelo álbum GNX e seu hit “Luther”. Ele pode quebrar o recorde de Jay-Z como o rapper com o maior número de Grammys na carreira. Lady Gaga vem em seguida com sete indicações no total, enquanto Bad Bunny e Sabrina Carpenter receberam seis cada.
Gaga e Carpenter também se apresentarão durante a cerimônia principal, juntamente com Justin Bieber, Rosé, Bruno Mars, Clipse, Pharrell, Tyler, the Creator e outros.
